About the event

An guided open studio class environment combines the benefits of private instruction with those of a group classroom environment. Bring your own materials and projects, and get individualized instruction for the work you want to create, all while making art in a group setting. You will be inspired by other artist’s work and have the opportunity to share and collaborate with fellow classmates. Instruction will be tailored to your individual art practice, needs, and desire to learn. You get to create what you want to create, I will help you make it better!

Bring all your own materials, including drop cloths or table cloths to protect the tables. Tables and chairs provided.

Time: Wednesdays 9:30am-12:30pm

Dates: June 12th - August 28th, no class July 3rd or August 14th

Location: Charlevoix Conservation District Community Room, 303 North St, Boyne City

Price: $27 per class, or $250 for the semester (10 classes). Minimum attendance requirement of 5 classes, you can choose the dates you are able to attend.

Sign up by June 1st in the Boyne Arts Gallery, 214 Water Street

Minimum 6 students per class required; any individual class date that does not meet the minimum will be canceled. Maximum 10 students per class.

Instructor Jennie Kimbrough is an artist in Boyne City, MI. She received her B.F.A. in 2004 from Missouri State University, and attended Wichita State University for graduate studies from 2005-2006. Her studio practice focuses on painting with acrylic and encaustic, as well as mixed media work. Her work has been featured in solo and group shows across the country, and has work in many private collections, as well as the collection of UTMB Galveston Hospital. She has taught classes at Wichita State University, and through Center for the Arts in Houston, TX. For further information visit
