CALL TO ALL ARTISTS -High School Students 10th-12th Grade and Older

Plein Air Paint Out “The Colors of Boyne” and Wet Paint Sale with Reception including Wine & Small Bites!

Come meet the Artists!!!

3 – Day Event; June 14th, 15th & 16th, 2023

Enjoy 2 days of painting in beautiful Boyne City surrounded by beaches, parks, marinas, restaurants, historic buildings, gazebo, ice cream shops, a French bakery and more.

Friday, the 16th you will deliver your paintings to the Boyne Arts Center in time to be hung for the Wet Paint Sale from 6-8 p.m. in our beautiful gallery located above Cafe Sante’ overlooking Lake Charlevoix.

Cash Prizes will be awarded for;

1st Place $500.00,

2nd Place $250.00

3rd Place $100.00

Also: Student, Best of Show $100.00

Artist’s works will be on display & for sale through Sunday, June 18th, 2023, until 4:00 p.m.

Plein Air Paint Out - “The Colors of Boyne” Registration Form and General Details

Registration Dates: Artists must register in advance between March 20, 2023 – May 31, 2023.

Registration is open to all artists, high school students and older.

Media choices include oils, acrylics, watercolors, gouache, pastels, charcoal or pencil and mixed media.

This is a 2-dimensional art event.

Minimum participants requirement is 20.

Registration Fees:

$35.00 for BAC Members

$45.00 for Non-members

Registration fees are non-refundable, unless event is canceled due to not meeting participant requirement.

A list of all participating artists will be posted on www.boynearts.org website by June 2, 2023.

Sign-In and Stamping Process will be held at the Boyne Arts Center (address below). Schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, 6/14/23 from 8 – 10:00 a.m.

  • Thursday, 6/15/23 form 8 – 10:00 a.m.

  • Friday, 6/16/23 all artworks must be turned in by 10:00 a.m. (FRAMED AND READY TO HANG ON WALL, UNLESS USING A FINISHED GALLERY WRAPPED CANVAS OR PANEL AT 1.5 INCHES OR MORE.

  • Judging from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023

  • Wet Paint Sale June 16, 2023, from 6-8 p.m.

General Information:

  • Artists can submit up to 3 plein air pieces. All artworks must be completed on location.

  • Artwork must be created from start to finish after having their working surfaces stamped, finishing no later than Friday, 6/16/23 as stated above.

  • Artists may paint anywhere within the parameters outlined on maps provided at Sign-In, which includes beaches, parks, marinas, restrooms and more. We do encourage artists to work in or around downtown where they are visible as people love to see an artist at work, which also helps to promote sales of artwork during the Wet Paint Sale Friday.

  • Worth mentioning, this Plein Air event is taking place during our 2nd Friday of Stroll the Streets, kicking off summer with lots of live music throughout downtown and heavy foot traffic is anticipated. It is also the night before our 3rd annual Boyne Arts in the Park, so watch for details coming on that as well. Artwork will remain on display in the main Gallery through Sunday, June 18th, at 4:00 p.m. Any work sold during the Wet Paint Sale will be split as such; Artists - 60%, BAC - 40%. Artists will determine selling price when brought into the Gallery prior to the Wet Paint Sale.

  • Exhibition: At least one completed piece of art per participating artist must be included in the Wet Paint Sale exhibition. However, the Boyne Arts Center reserves the right to limit artwork based on space considerations, subject matter and quality . Unsold artwork must be picked up at the close of business on Sunday, June 18th , from 4 – 5 p.m., or Monday, June 19th, 2023, between 12 – 2 p.m.
